SYMPATHY to Valery and Damien Stack and family of Bunagara on the death recently of Valery’s Mother Angela Quinlan(nee McNamara) of Coolnaleen.

 

DEATH has taken place of Fr. Roger Duggan MSC, Missionaries of the Sacred Heart, Western Road, Cork City and Listowel, Co. Kerry on the 14th of May 2018. Sadly missed by his sister Una Hayes and brother-in-law Liam Hayes (Tanavalla, Listowel), niece Julia, nephew Danny, grandnephew Mathew and his fellow Missionaries of the Sacred Heart in Ireland and Australia. Bishop Ray and several priests celebrated Requiem Mass for Fr. Duggan on Thursday 17th May 2018. Burial afterwards in St. John Paul II Cemetery, Ballybunion Road, Listowel. He was Born Wales, reared Birmingham, and Ordained 1993.

 

DEATH of Tim Kennelly of Love Lane, Charleville, Moyvane, and Crossroads, Buttevant on May 17th 2018, husband of the late Bridget (nee Lynch), Love Lane, Charleville, father of Kathleen (Gorman), Mary Jane, (Griffin), Anne (Morrissey), Timothy, Clare (Kennelly Lang) and the late Patricia. DEATH occurred on the 2nd of May, 2018 in her 99th year of Hannah Sheehy (née McCarthy) of Pilgrim Hill, Kilmorna, wife of the late Jim. Survived by sons Tom and Tony, sisters Noreen and Mary, brothers Tom and Denis, daughters-in-law Eileen and Michelle, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces.

 

Requiem Mass for Hannah was celebrated on Saturday, the 5th of May, in Bridget's Church, Duagh followed by burial in Springmount Cemetery, Duagh.

 

DEATH on May 3rd 2018 of David O Brien late of Tanavalla, Listowel, in his 100th year. Sadly missed by his wife Crissie, daughters Joan (O' Sullivan, Castleisland), Lily (McHugh, Skerries, Co. Dublin), Marie (Corridan, Ennismore, Listowel ) and son Cyril O Brien (Ardee, Co. Louth), sons-in-law, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces,and nephews.

 

DEATH of Paddy Feury , Glenagragra, Glin, on  May 1 2018, Predeceased by his brother Michael, and parents John and Mary. Survived by brothers Tom, John and Richard, sisters Mary and Joan; sisters-in-law Margaret and Noreen, brothers-in-law Billy and Pat, nieces, and nephews.

 

Requiem Mass for Paddy was celebrated in Glin Church on Friday, followed by burial in Kilfergus Cemetery.

 

DEATH took place on May 2nd 2018 of John Sean Horgan, Upper Athea, Athea. Survived by his wife Nora, sons John, Kevin, Pat and Denis, grandchildren and extended families.

 

 Requiem mass was celebrated for John on Friday. Burial afterwards to Holy Cross Cemetery, Athea.

DEATH has occurred of Teresa Kennelly, late of Lissaniska, Kilmorna and Willow Court, Listowel. Unexpectedly on the 17th of April 2018. Pre-deceased by her brother William and Nana Maureen. Sadly missed by her loving partner Mick, children Daniel and Aoibhe, parents Mike and Joan, brother Tim and his wife Margaret, uncles, aunts, niece, nephews, cousins, extended family, neighbours and a wide circle of friends. Requiem Mass on Friday 20th April at 12 noon in the Church of Corpus Christi, Knockanure and burial afterwards in Ahavoher Cemetery, Knockanure, Moyvane. Mass was celebrated by Fr. Kevin assister by Fathers Tom and Brendan, hymns were sung by Ester and Elaine Foley. Teresa was laid to rest on a beautiful sunny day, surrounded by her grieving family and friends.

MASS for Fr Joseph Mallin of Hong Kong, China and Dublin, was celebrated on April 21, 2018 in St Francis Xavier Church, Upper Gardiner Street, Dublin 1, son of Commandant Michael Mallin (executed in 1916 Rising) and Agnes Mallin (née Hickey). Fr. Joseph was only two years old when his father was executed.

DEATH occurred on March 26, 2018, of Michael O'Keeffe of Glenameade, Pallaskenry, born at Lixnaw, (retired Supt). Survived by his wife Maureen, daughter Suzanné, son Michael Paul, daughter-in-law Carmel, grandchildren Isabelle, Michael, Molly and Jack;  missed by his brothers and sisters Chris, Con, Sean, Joe, Nancy, Noreen, Patsy, Mary, Helen, Kitty, Betty and Eamon, nephews, and nieces. Requiem mass for Michael O’Keeffe was celebrated on Wednesday at St. Mary's Church, Pallaskenry. Burial afterwards in Adare Cemetery. His father was a native of Kilmorna and he has many relatives in the locality.

 

SYMPATHY to the family of Mary Sweeney (née Fitzmaurice), of Coilagurteen who died in London recently. Mary will be reposing at the home of Bernie Reidy of Athea Village on Tuesday 10th April from 6 to 8pm with funeral Mass on Wednesday in St. Bartholomew’s Church at 12noon.  Burial afterwards in Ahavoher Cemetery.

 

DEATH Mary Bridget Crean, (nee Thornton), Pearl River , 83, previously of Pearl River, NY, died Tuesday, March 27th, 2018 at her daughter's home in Tappan, NY. Mary was born on October 24th, 1934 in Moyvane, to Myles Thornton and Bridget O'Connor Thornton. Mary emigrated to the United States in 1951 and resided in Brooklyn, NY. She married Thomas J. Crean on June 22nd, 1957 at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Brooklyn, NY. They moved to Pearl River in 1959. Mary worked for the New York Telephone Company, the Town of Orangetown Receiver of Taxes, and was a loving child care provider in her home for many years. She is predeceased by her loving husband Tom, her parents and step-father Cornelius Buckley. She is survived by her children Joanmarie Burfeind (Eric) of Longmont, CO., Michael Crean of Parrish, FL., Kathleen Albin (Glenn) of Tappan, NY., Eileen O'Connell (Bob) of Palm Bay, FL., Mary Catherine Crean (Judy Trujillo) of Nanuet, NY. She was a loving grandmother to Peter (Kristin), Kathryn (Matt), Bethann (Leif), AnnMarie , Justine (Garth), Danny, MaryKatelyn, and Erin. Her precious great-grandchildren Lucille Grace, Thomas John, and Blaire Reagan. She is also survived by her sister Kathleen Buckley Ryan and her brother Cornelius Buckley of Co. Clare Ireland, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and cherished friends in Ireland and the United States. Funeral Mass Tuesday, April 3rd, 11 am, at St. Margaret's Roman Catholic Church, Pearl River, NY. Burial will follow at the Frederick Loescher Veterans Memorial Cemetery in New Hempstead, NY.  Mary Crean has many relations in the parish, including, Thornton’s, Connors, Fitzgerald’s and Sheahan’s.

Survived by his wife Kitty, sons John and Mike, daughters Catherine and Eleanor, sisters Breda, Maureen, Kathleen and Nellie, grandchildren, son-in-law, and  daughter-in-law,   Reposing at Lyons’s on Sun from 4pm to 7pm with removal to St. Mary’s Church, Listowel.  Funeral Mass on Monday April 2nd at 11.30am. 

 

DEATH has occurred of Billy Enright Snr of Corner House, Ballylongford, and late of Moyvane.  (Retired E.S.B. Staff Tarbert Gen Station). Died on Wednesday 28th March, 2018, husband of the late Sheila R.I.P. and predeceased by his grandson William Patrick, his sisters Bridie (Kelliher) and Hannah (Ferguson), brothers Dan and Johnny R.I.P. He was Dad to son Billy Jnr, a kind and father-in-law of Mary who cared for him so lovingly right up to the end, an inspirational grandfather to Marie and her husband Gavin, Sheila and her husband to be Mike and doted on by Sandra, very proud and treasured great-grandfather to twins Jenson and Alannah, he was a cherished and hugely loved brother of Margaret (Mason) Kilgarvin, Ballylongford and Mary (Kelliher) Lartigue Village, Listowel, brothers Denis Killarney, Patrick Ballina, Co. Tipperary and Joe Lyrecrompane, he will be sadly missed by his sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family.

DEATH has taken place of Thomas Bernard (Bernie) O'Connor, 16 Lartigue Village, Listowel and late of Keylod, Moyvane, on the 15th March 2018. Predeceased by his wife Hanna Mai on the 8th January 2018. Deeply regretted by his, sisters Joan and Kathleen, brothers Liam, Danny, Michael, Francis, (predeceased by Eymard who died Nov. 2012); brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and a large circle of friends. Reposing at Lyons Funeral Home, Derry, Listowel on Sunday 18th March from 5pm to 7pm. Requiem Mass Monday 19th in Listowel Church at 11.30am followed by burial afterwards In St. John Paul 2nd Cemetery. Bernie was son of Tom O Connor who died in March 2001 and Mary Keane who died aged 62 years in April 1977.

Requiem Mass for Nora Daly was celebrated on Tuesday 13th March at St. Brigid’s Church Duagh. Burial afterwards in Springmount Cemetery Duagh.

DEATH has occurred on 26th February 2018 of Jerry Brosnan of Moyvane Village. He was preleased by his brothers Jim and Mícheal and his sister Eileen. Survived by his wife Nodie, son Mike, daughters Kay, Brenda, Aileen and Geraldine, daughter-in-law Breda, sons-in-law Tom, John, David and Aiden, 14 grandchildren, his niece, and nephews. Requiem Mass for Jerry Brosnan was celebrated in Moyvane Church on Thursday, March 1st, followed by burial afterwards in Ahavoher Cemetery, Moyvane.

 

DEATH occurred of Dan Hanrahan of Lower Dirreen, Athea. Dan (Stonemason) died on 24th February 2018. Predeceased by his parents Jeremiah & Eileen and his brother John. Survived by his sisters Ellen and Mary (Healy – Abbeyfeale), brother-in-law Timothy, nephews and grandnephews. 

 

DEATH of Eileen McGrath; details from Brigid McGrath,  I am contacting you as my aunt Eileen McGrath sadly died on February 23rd 2018. She grew up in Athea and Moyvane, but left for England when she was young. I visited the area with her 3 years ago when we brought my Dad Martin McGrath`s ashes home. I am so glad she was able to bring me to the areas of Athea and Moyvane, to show me where she grew up. Her mother was May Kennelly, and Grandparents Brigit (Bridie) and Martin Kennelly from Gortdromasillihy. I would like to let the community know that Eileen has passed, as there may be people who remember her. Her funeral will be on 9th March in Rendlesham, Suffolk.  I would be happy for anyone who knew Eileen to contact me. She was always so proud of her Irish roots, and from the places she spent her early years. If you could share this message on your page, or in your newsletter, it would be much appreciated. DEATH has occurred of Ned O'Keeffe of Gortnagross, Athea, on 11th February 2018. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Mary, children Anne & Joseph and beloved extended family. His brother Joe lives at Kilmorna.

Hannah is survived by her daughters Margaret, Ann, Patricia and son Richard, surviving brother and sister Patrick and Nora, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, and nieces. Requiem Mass for Hannah Stack was celebrated at the Church of the Assumption, Moyvane on Friday 19th. Burial afterwards in Ahavoher Cemetery, Moyvane.

 

Hannah was daughter of Tim Flaherty and Hannah O’Connor of Knockanure, she was predeceased by siblings, Michael, Tom, John, William, Tim, and Mary, their aunt Nora Flaherty lived to 102 and died in 1981.

MUM HAD A LOVELY RELATIONSHIP WITH HER GRANDMOTHER WHO SHE LOVED. GRANDMOTHER PASSED ON MANY OF HER SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE, THESE WERE REALLY USEFUL BRINGING UP A YOUNG FAMILY AND IN RETURN MUM CARED FOR HER GRANDMOTHER TILL SHE DIED.

DEATH has occurred of Hannah Mai O'Connor (née Long), 16 Lartigue Village, Listowel. Late of Guhard, Lisselton. Hannah Mai died on the 8th of January, 2018, survived by her husband Bernie, sisters Margaret and Teresa and her late sister Mary B, brothers Mike, Jer, John and Pat Joe, brothers and sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces. Requiem Mass for Hannah Mai was celebrated on Friday, the 12th of January at St. Mary's Church, Listowel, followed by burial afterwards in John Paul II Cemetery.

 

DEATH of Fr. Brendan Dalton on the 31st of December 2017 in Florida. Late of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Hollywood, Florida and formerly of Bridge Road, Listowel. Survived by his brother Fr. Bryan, sisters Rosemary and Mona, brother-in-law John, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

 

DEATH has taken place of Thomas (Tom) Wright, Ballymoirisheen Ardagh late of an Garda Siochana and Listowel Co. Kerry. Died on December 26 2017 and he was predeceased by brothers John and Ted. He was 79 years old, he was 20 years in Listowel.

 

DEATH has taken place of Maureen Egan (nee Stack), Ballinvulla, Ardagh, and formerly of Stacks Carrigkerry, peacefully at her home in the loving care of her family in her 99th year on Saturday December 30.2017, Predeceased by her loving husband Daniel (Dan), brothers Tom, Liam (Lee) and sister Nan. Maureen was the last remaining member of the Stack family who came from Knockanure, Co Kerry around 1860 to set up business in Carrigkerry.

 

Fr Tim recalled her long path through life during his homily which began on November 8, 1919. Her parents were Robert, and Mary and she had two brothers, Tom and Lee, and sister Nan. She attended Carrigkerry School which was next door to her home, and the Convent of Mercy Newcastle West. She worked in the family business Shop Pub Post Office, Undertaker, Auctioneer Provision Store, and farm until her marriage to Dan Egan in Saint Joseph’s Church O’Connell Avenue Limerick on February 2,1943. Together they raised seven children, at the family farm in Ballinvulla, Ardagh.

Death Notes 2018

DEATH took place at Christmas 2017 of Mary Stack, nee Kennelly born over 90 years ago, daughter of Jerry Kennelly and Mary Moloney of Knockanure. Mary went to England and married her neighbour Pat Stack of Moyvane, who predeceased her, her son Austin also predeceased her. Mary is survived son Jerry and daughters Theresa, Margaret,  and Hellen and grandchildren.

 

DEATH took place on Christmas Day 2017 of Willie O’Connor of Kilmeaney, Kilmorna. Husband of Kate and father of Mary, Seamus, Declan and Triona, also survived by his grandchildren James, Alice, Gavin, Jamie, Molly, Maeve, Julia, and Ellie Mae, sons-in-law Gerald and John, daughters-in-law Noreen and Dana, brother-in-laws, and sister-in-laws. Requiem Mass on Thursday, the 28th of December, at Knockanure Church, celebrated by Fr. McNamara, P.P. assisted by Frs. McMahon, O’Callaghan and Sheehy, Noel Nash sang at the mass. Willie O’Connor was laid to rest afterwards on a very wet day in St. Michael's Cemetery, Listowel. A vintage tractor led the hearse from Knockanure Church. Willie was son of Jimmy O’Connor and Mary Ellen Hayes.
