DEATH has taken place of John Kirby, Boyne Hall, Slane Road, Drogheda and formerly of Moyvane, on 5th July 2019. John, husband of Maureen and dad to Paul, John and Jim, granddad to Colm and Cormac, brother of Jimmy, sister of Bridie. Funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s Church, Mell, and Burial afterwards in Newtown Cross Lawns Cemetery, Termonfeckin Road.

 

DEATH has occurred of Richard (Rich) Kissane, Clountubrid, Listowel.(Suddenly) at his residence on the 5th July 2019.Predeceased by his parents Michael and Molly. Survived by his wife Mary, sons Mike and P.J, daughters Majella and Joanne, grandchildren Isabella, Darragh, Seanie, Dáithí, Richie, Michael & Thomas, brother Francis, sisters Sr. Noreen and Miriam, daughters-in-law Mari and Fiona, sons-in-law Alan and David, brothers-in-law Oliver and Matt, sister-in-law Betty, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, and grandnieces. Removal on Tuesday from his residence to St. Mary's Church, Listowel for requiem Mass at 11.30 a.m, with burial afterwards in St. John Paul II Cemetery, Ballybunion Road, Listowel.

 

DEATH has occurred in England recently of Dan Broderick of Gortdromagowna, Knockanure, born 21st December 1940. Son of Nora Mai Broderick (nee Fitzgerald who died in her 93rd in Dec. 2000) and John Broderick. Dan is survived by his wife Christina, children Maria, John and Thomas and brothers and sisters and grandchildren.

Funeral Mass, burial in St. John Paul II Cemetery. Eileen Holly (née Quill) (Greystones, Co. Wicklow and previously of Tarbert,– died on July 4th 2019, in her 104th year, wife of the late Maurice, mother of Maurice, Robert, Con, Denis and Paddy.

 

DEATH has taken place of Padraig Madden, late of Kilgarvan, Ballylongford, who died unexpectedly on Monday, July 1st. 2019 at Oaklands Nursing Home, Listowel. Survived by his brother Teddy, sisters Hannah and Breda, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nephews, and nieces. Requiem Mass for Padraig was celebrated on Friday at St. Theresa’s Church, Ballydonoghue, A guard of honour was formed by Ballydonoghue GAA as his coffin was brought into the church. He played under age with his club and always kept in touch when Ballydonoghue was playing. Following Mass Interment in St. John’s Cemetery, Ballybunion.

DEATH took place on 18th April 2019 at Detroit, Michigan of John Dunne of Dromurhur, Moyvane, born 79 years ago to Jack Dunne and Kitty Wren. John was predeceased by siblings, Brendan, Kit (Keane), Liam and Danny and is survived by siblings Mary (Curtin),Tony, Pat and Tom. John was a highly respected footballer. THE Kerry minor footballers will line out against Tipperary, at Mallow, on Sunday, inspired by the knowledge that a great deal of the county's prestige depends on their performance, since they are the last surviving hope of an All-Ireland title for this year. Mass for the happy repose of John’s soul will be celebrated in Moyvane Church on Friday 17th May at 7.30pm.

The funeral for Fr. Teddy Molyneaux has taken place in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. A Memorial Mass for Fr. Teddy Molyneaux was celebrated on Saturday (April 13th) at 10.30 am in St. Mary’s Church, Listowel.

Kathleen McGrath, (née Kennelly) Upper Tullig, Kilflynn, Tralee, and late of Dysert, Lixnaw on the 12th April, 2019. Predeceased by her brother Michael. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her  husband Patrick, sons Paud, Pete and Noel, brothers Dan, Denis, Gearóid and Paddy, sisters Mary and Margaret, daughters-in-law Ann Marie and Catherine, grandchildren Séan and Amy, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and many friends.

DEATH occurred of Jimmy Bunyan, 13, Church St., Listowel, on the 14th April, 2019, Predeceased by his parents, Richard and Johanna Bunyan. Survived by daughter Claire, Sister Sr. Margaret Mary, brother Denis, nephew Richard, nieces Siobhán and Áine. He had many friends who were interested in the Irish language, he even had a chat with Dev. in Irish. Jimmy was also involved in a showband called Gladstones, members included, Jim Quinn, William Mattis, Tom Broder and  Patsy Stack.

DEATH took place on St Patrick’s Day 2019, in Birmingham of Billy Looney. He was born on 2nd of April 1938, at Carrueragh, Kilmorna, he attended Knockanure N.S. and went to Birmingham at age 16 and worked in construction, with many more from the locality. He set up a successful construction Company in the mid 1970s. Billy is survived by his wife Chriss, children, William, Geraldine, Michael, Carmel, John, James and Christopher, sisters Sr. Concepta (Mai), Eileen, Noreen and Anne and brothers Michael, Pat and John. He always loved to come home on holidays, which he did every year in recent times, more often. Billy had a great passion for Kerry football and all Irish sports. He was deeply involved with the Irish community in Birmingham. Mass was celebrated for Billy Looney in Knockanure Church on Friday 12th April, by Fr. Brendan O’Callaghan.

 

DEATH of Maurice Walsh, Golf View, Gurtinard, Listowel, took place on 4th of April 2019, survived by his wife Alice and children, Alison, Patrick and Geraldine, his mother Kathleen, granddaughter Aoife, brothers Jack and Paddy, sisters Miriam and Patricia, his uncle Gerard, Aunts Peggy and Margo.

DEATH has taken place of Maurice O’Connell of Templeogue, D.6W and formerly of Moyvane, on April 1st, 2019 Formerly of Dept. of Finance and Governor of the Central Bank of Ireland. Survived by his wife Marjorie (nee Tracey), father of Tom, Catherine, Martin and Marjorie, daughters-in-law Nicola and Norah, son-in-law Thomas, his grandchildren Rebecca, Darragh, Aoibheann, Alannah, Oran, Eleanor, Riain, Dominic and Luke, sisters Bess (McCarthy) and Dymphna, and brother-in-law Louis. Following Requiem Mass, Maurice was laid to rest at Mount Venus Cemetery, Edmondstown. His father Tom taught in Moyvane 1919-1944 and his mother Mary B. (nee McMahon) taught in Moyvane N.S. c1926-1964.

 

DEATH of John Hunt in Chicago aged 98yrs. John was from Athea. He was featured on the Late Late Show following the Limerick hurlers All Ireland win last year.

NAN HURLEY: Feb 2019, We all hoped that Nan would make it to the “100th” birthday, but unfortunately she passed to her eternal reward just a few days short of her “Big Occasion”, in the care of the staff at Beechwood Nursing Home in Newcastle West. Up to recently Nan was able to sing a song, recite a poem and was in full voice and a great lover of doing crosswords etc.

DEATH has occurred in England of John Danaher, formerly of Upper Athea, in his early sixties.

DEATH has taken place of Jerry Moore; Elsinore, Tinnakilly, Rosbercon, New Ross, Co Wexford, on 13th January 2019, husband of Margaret, father of Yvonne, Seán and Diarmuid, brother of Michael, Helen and the late William. Regretted by his loving family son-in-law Colm, daughter-in-law Laura, grandchildren Danny, Louise and Nina. Both his parents came from Knockanure.

DEATH occurred On January 29th 2019 of Martina Noonan (née Walsh), Sundrive Park, Ballinlough, Cork, and late of Tullamore Listowel. wife of the late Noel, mother of John, Kieran, Noelle and Derek and sister of Elizabeth and the late Teresa, Patrick, Mary Catherine, William and Kitty. Sadly missed by her family, grandchildren Aaron and Brian, Aileen, Sean and Julie, Senan and Fehin, Ava and Maya, daughters-in-law Angela, Evelyn and Alex, son-in-law Ger, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, and nieces. Requiem Mass for Martina was celebrated at Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, Ballinlough. Funeral afterwards to St. Michael's Cemetery, Blackrock.
