DEATH took place on 18th April 2019 at Detroit, Michigan of John Dunne of Dromurhur, Moyvane, born 79 years ago to Jack Dunne and Kitty Wren. John was predeceased by siblings, Brendan, Kit (Keane), Liam and Danny and is survived by siblings Mary (Curtin),Tony, Pat and Tom. John was a highly respected footballer. THE Kerry minor footballers will line out against Tipperary, at Mallow, on Sunday, inspired by the knowledge that a great deal of the county's prestige depends on their performance, since they are the last surviving hope of an All-Ireland title for this year. DEATH occurred of Jimmy Bunyan, 13, Church St., Listowel, on the 14th April, 2019, Predeceased by his parents, Richard and Johanna Bunyan. He had many friends who were interested in the Irish language, he even had a chat with Dev. in Irish. DEATH took place on St Patrick’s Day 2019, in Birmingham of Billy Looney. He was born on 2nd of April 1938, at Carrueragh, Kilmorna, he attended Knockanure N.S. and went to Birmingham at age 16 and worked in construction, with many more from the locality. He set up a successful construction Company in the mid 1970s. Billy is survived by his wife Chriss, children, William, Geraldine, Michael, Carmel, John, James and Christopher, sisters Sr. Concepta (Mai), Eileen, Noreen and Anne and brothers Michael, Pat and John. He always loved to come home on holidays, which he did every year in recent times, more often. Billy had a great passion for Kerry football and all Irish sports. He was deeply involved with the Irish community in Birmingham. Mass was celebrated for Billy Looney in Knockanure Church on Friday 12th April, by Fr. Brendan O’Callaghan.

DEATH has taken place of Maurice O’Connell of Templeogue, D.6W and formerly of Moyvane, on April 1st, 2019 Formerly of Dept. of Finance and Governor of the Central Bank of Ireland. Survived by his wife Marjorie (nee Tracey), father of Tom, Catherine, Martin and Marjorie, daughters-in-law Nicola and Norah, son-in-law Thomas, his grandchildren Rebecca, Darragh, Aoibheann, Alannah, Oran, Eleanor, Riain, Dominic and Luke, sisters Bess (McCarthy) and Dymphna, and brother-in-law Louis. Following Requiem Mass, Maurice was laid to rest at Mount Venus Cemetery, Edmondstown. His father Tom taught in Moyvane 1919-1944 and his mother Mary B. (nee McMahon) taught in Moyvane N.S. c1926-1964.


DEATH of John Hunt in Chicago aged 98yrs. John was from Athea. He was featured on the Late Late Show following the Limerick hurlers All Ireland win last year.

NAN HURLEY: Feb 2019, We all hoped that Nan would make it to the “100th” birthday, but unfortunately she passed to her eternal reward just a few days short of her “Big Occasion”, in the care of the staff at Beechwood Nursing Home in Newcastle West. Up to recently Nan was able to sing a song, recite a poem and was in full voice and a great lover of doing crosswords etc.
